On Friday, July 5th, 2019, Courtenay was involved in a motorcycle accident in Maryland . She was taken to Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE where she suffered from a brain injury, broken ribs, a broken clavicle, as well as road burns on her chest and arms. She is in the critical care unit receiving around the clock care. She is responding now by nodding her head and using hand gestures when she is asked questions. She also responds when prompted to things such as "move your left leg," and pointing to things in pictures, Although these things are a good sign, she will continue to need care and will move to a rehabilitation center when she makes more progress.
