Cora Guse was born in October 2017.  She was welcomed into the world by her brother Sebastien and parents Dennis and Alyssa Guse.  The day after her birth, the pediatrician identified a potentially fused skull.

After monitoring the condition for a few weeks, she was diagnosed with Sagittal Craniosynostosis, which is a birth defect in which one or more of the fibrous joints between the bones of your baby's skull (cranial sutures) close prematurely (fuse), before your baby's brain is fully formed. Brain growth continues, giving the head a misshapen appearance.

In the past four months, she has grown from 8 lbs 4 oz and 20 1/2 inches to 15 lbs 15 oz and 24 inches.  Her original surgery date was scheduled for Friday, February 16th, 2018.  However, because Cora contracted a cough, the surgery has been postponed until Wednesday, March 14th at 11:00 am.
