Welcome to Cookie's Caring Bridge Site.  We decided to start this page to keep everyone updated on her progress.  Please make this your first resource for information and updates.

Cookies cancer journey began on November of 2016 when she found her lump in her breast.  This resulted in a lumpectomy.  The results came back with no cancer in the lymph nodes and she was diagnosed with stage one breast cancer.

April 2018, very small spots were found on her lungs.  This gave us the dreaded diagnosis of Stage 4 cancer due to the metastases (movement) of the cancer.  Just a side note this does not mean she has lung cancer it means she has breast cancer that has moved to the lungs.  Cookies complete chemo and radiation and things looked good.  We knew these spots would not go away but this would become a lifetime of managing this completely unfair disease.  Randy and Cookie took a much deserved trip to their favorite place Boyd Lodge upon the completion of this treatment!

February 2019, Cookie had been having dizzy  spells and some tunnel vision.  She went to her pcp and was diagnosed with vertigo but because of the cancer decided to do a brain scan.  Dr. Thome called and wanted Randy and Cookie to come in the same day the test was done.  We discovered the awful news that her breast cancer had spread to her brain.  This was tough for us all.  Cookie was a trooper.  She battled through a lot with this treatment regimen and Randy was always there to support and help her.  It was so hard!  The side effects of brain radiation are long lasting and intense.  We are all so proud of Cookie for her fight!

April 2019, we were given the wonderful news that the brain radiation had miraculous results!  The brain spots has shrunk dramatically.  It was discovered there was cancer on her hip bone so she started some preventive measures for that.   Cookie was to go and enjoy life.

June 2019 everything seems to look good.  There is minor growth on the lung spots and some growth to the bone spot.  Cookie has a brain scan on 7/17 with results and we will discuss the treatment plan going forward on 7/19.  Stay tuned.
