Welcome to my CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Shortly before turning 60 in August of 2017, I was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer.

For the last couple of months, I had been having back and stomach pains and made several trips to my doctor.  He started treating me for Acid Reflux, then a possible ulcer.  Once the pain did not subside, I had a CT scan, which showed a spot on my Pancreas.  A biopsy was performed  to find a more definitive answer, which turned out to be adenocarcinoma.  Of course, this was not what anyone wants to hear, but there are a couple of positives on my side; 1) I had symptoms.  Most people that have Pancreatic Cancer do not have any symptoms until it's too late..  2) My PET Scan came back clean, which means that the cancer is localized and has not spread.  This makes me a candidate for surgery; the Whipple Procedure.

The current plan is to have 3 months of Chemotherapy,  which will begin on August 25th.  After this round of Chemo is finished,  another CT Scan will be done to see if the tumor has shrunk enough for surgery.  If this is the case, I will have surgery around Christmas.  Once I have recovered from the surgery somewhat, I will have another round of Chemotherapy.

In no way am I going to let this Cancer beat me.  I am in the best physical condition than I have been in years!  I am truly blessed to have  my family and  SO many wonderful friends in my life, standing beside me during this journey.  Bring it on!  💜
