The Santa picture with Great-Grandma Connie-Lou from the Mall of America was taken on Tuesday December 18th 2018. On Thursday the 20th just two days later I find an old photo of teenage Connie sitting on Santa’s lap. I ask, “How old are you in this picture?” without hesitation “thirteen” she says.
Connie and her 3 besties, Claudette, Diane and Kim (aka the Four Musketeers) decide for kicks to go see Santa, December 1948.
I looked back to December 1948 and I see that the 18th was a Saturday. I ask, “When you and your Musketeer goof-ball friends went to see Santa, was it a Saturday?” “Probably.” she said.
On that day December 18th, 1948 for the last time an innocent young teenage girl sat on Santa’s lap. Seventy years to the day a fine lady, a loving mom, a fantastic grand-mom, a wonderful great grand-mom, my mom sat with Santa.
Forever, when I see Santa, sweet Connie-Lou will be on his lap and December 18th is my new favorite day. Thanks for a new story mom.
