Welcome to our CaringBridge website for Cole Young. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your Prayer's support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
As some of you may or may not be aware, Cole was born with a defective heart, repaired when he was very young, through multiple open heart surgeries. He has only two valve's rather than four, one of which is artificial heart valve. On July 8th, Cole was admitted to Abbott Northwestern Hospital with a high heart rate and arhythmia, at that time. Cole suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. He had no pulse. Working to resuscitate Cole went on for almost an hour. With with the assistance of a CPR machine, the doctors were able to resuscitate him and had his heart started again. When this happens, the doctors told they are concerned about brain damage as well as keeping him alive. To do this the doctors began to cool his body to reduce swelling on his brain and placed him into an induced coma. The family was told to prepare for a marathon. Since this time they have discovered that his valve is stuck due blood clotting and are working to gently remove it with blood thinner through his IV and other procedures. The family is very grateful for all the prayers of family and friends. The family appreciates your concern and grateful for continued prayer and support and this site will hopefully serve to provide updates every day for those who love and support Coles full recovery. Visiting times to see Cole: Currently only immediate family, watch for updates on when this wil change. Thank you
