It wasn't a growth spurt......Which is something that comes to mind when your baby has those extra sleepy days.  She didn't have a fever, she was eating normal, still had goofy interactions she just wanted to take resting breaks. Your brain then thinks, "It's something viral, the Dr's would say "her body is working hard to fight it off"...but what is she fighting off?
Day 5 of these symptoms Dr Pearson of Sandford clinic in East Grand Forks squeezes her in his schedule. He runs a bunch of tests almost certain she had mono. I didn't know babies could get mono that must be it! I return in the afternoon he arrives in our room with tears in his eyes "I unfortunately have upsetting news...." Leukemia anyone's nightmare especially a parent hearing the news about their child.
Sandford's Children's Hospital in Fargo had a room ready for our Coco to arrive. The past few days Coco has endured numerous blood tests, spinal lumbar puncture, bone marrow biopsy, along with many other diagnostic tests, she also received her first intense dose of chemotherapy and blood transfusion.
Due to Coco's age she is considered high risk which is the worst category to be in. We have learned that Google is the worst thing ever to look at for information especially if you are wanting positive feedback, we just need to trust in her Doctors care and so far the staff is GREAT here!
The first few days there were many tears. She didn't look the same she just laid there. Coco has always been super easy so happy..almost abnormally happy! We were missing her big tooth smile and eyes. As the first week has gone by a glimpse of our normal Coco was back! However, we knew her intense chemo plan was upcoming. We are always waiting for a test result, we are asked questions by friends and family and we ask questions as well. However, it's always week by week and test by test. This page is to update everyone what we know as we know it!
As we move forward we ask few things from everyone, prayer! NOTHING is more powerful! Another request, donate blood and platelets. Coco has been in the hospital one week and already needed a blood transfusion.  She will need many of these! There would be no cure or treatment for cancer without people donating! Someone or should I say multiple people are helping save our baby from there prior donations!
(Donating will not necessarily go to Coco but you will help someone or someone's child in need which is so awesome! I will soon share the fargo locations information for those interested in donating)
