Cody began having leg pain the end of Sept. 2011. We thought the pain was just growing pain because it would come and go. After a couple of weeks of the on and off leg pain we decided to make an appointment with his pediactric doctor. The doctor said it was probably just growing pain and took an x-ray which he did not see anything on and told us to bring him back in a week if he is still having the pain. Well the pain did not get better it was in fact slowly getting worse so we took him back to the doctor and they did some labs and decided to refer him to Dr.Eddie Cooper an orthopedic doctor. The first visit to Dr. Cooper included doing an X-ray which revealed an abnormal area in Cody's right tibia. Things went fast from there, Cody went for an MRI that same night which revealed a tumor. Dr a Cooper said it looked like Osteosarcoma to him but he referred Cody to St Jude. Two days later we were at St.Jude's in Memphis to see Dr. Rachel Brennan in D clinic and thus began Cody's journey to fight cancer. He had a biopsy done in November of 2011 that confirmed his Diagnosis of Ewing Sarcoma. He went through 14 rounds of Chemotherapy and had his first limbsparing surgery in February of 2012.
