Welcome to Clyde’s Caringbridge site.  Clyde has been having some non-life threatening health challenges these past couple weeks.  Clyde and Arlene have been overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and support from across the country.   We thought setting up this site would be the simplest way to get information out to everyone.  You’ll also be able to send him get well messages through here.

Two weeks ago, Clyde experienced abdominal pain and it turned out to be diverticulitis which resulted in a small perforation in his bowel, sepsis, and a bowel obstruction.  He was hospitalized Monday, July 13th and discharged Saturday, July 18th.   His recovery at home was going well until later last week when he developed a fever, indicating his body was fighting something even though he’d been on antibiotics.  After another visit to the emergency room yesterday they found a 8 cm abscess in the location of the perforation and admitted him to Mercy Hospital again.  He responded well to a different combination of IV antibiotics last night, slept well and his fever is gone this morning.  Later today, they will put in a tube to drain the abscess and hopefully, he’ll be able to go home in a couple days.

We’ll continue to provide updates as his health progresses.   Please reach out them through this page and they’ll be reading your well wishes frequently.  Thank you!
