In November Dad caught a bit of a cold and had a cough that most of us were sure was covid, but he tested negative! His cough persisted and after Christmas, and Grandma's funeral in Linden, he saw the doctor again. The doctor ordered a CT scan that showed the mass in his lung. After that was a lung biopsy, an MRI of his brain, and a PET scan. Looking back we realize the pain he was having in his legs had been there for quite some time! Colleen and I (Danette) flew out to be with them over some of those initial appointments. Of course we couldn't be inside for the Dr appointments, but we were able to listen in over the phone. We were so thankful Mom could be with him when they got the results of the PET scan. By then we knew there were "innumerable" spots in his brain. The PET scan was also full of spots. It is stage 4 non small cell adenocarcinoma lung cancer that has spread to his brain, bones, and other areas. His first treatments were 5 radiation treatments on his legs. Then he had 1 chemo infusion. We were hopeful there would be a targeted gene therapy that would be available, but those tests came back negative. He then had 15 full brain radiation treatments. The day he got his last radiation treatment he had his next chemo. He is also getting Keytruda, an immunotherapy infusion. Chris & Colleen and family were able to spend spring break with them. Ryan & I and our girls went for Easter. Dad is 73. They had their 50th anniversary in March. Thank you for your prayers and support.
