Claude Wintner

If you are visiting this site, you probably know that for the past six years, Claude has survived peritoneal cancer with heart and determination, giving all of us a wonderous gift – six years of friendship and love after doctors had initially predicted a three month prognosis.  Every two to three weeks he has returned for chemo, knowing that this meant multiple days of feeling terrible, but also knowing that his constitution and will would allow him to spend the latter half of each cycle with a quality of life that was, if not perfect, still joyful in all that it brought to him, to Martha, and to all of those who enjoyed his company.
This January, after more than 150 treatments (completely unprecedented against this currently incurable cancer), the balance of life quality reached a clear tipping point, and Claude has decided to gently let the universe take its course.  As of Jan 12th, Claude and Martha have invited a low-key hospice practice into their home, and Claude is comfortable, mostly pain free, and extremely happy to be dealing with life’s later moments completely on his own terms.

We welcome you to this CaringBridge website, and we will be using it to help keep family and friends updated.  Thank you for your thoughts and words!
Sincerely,  Martha, Ed, and Tom
