Short Version of the Beginning of this Journey

Just after seven months of my husband and I adapting to living and serving in Camarma Spain, I discovered a lump in my left breast.  At first, I thought it was nothing but symptoms of getting older but after a few weeks with no change, we felt that I should get it checked just to make sure.  On March 27th, I was seen by a family physician in Madrid and sent to have a mammogram and sonogram.  The tests revealed a tumor with an 85% chance of malignancy.  The next step was to have a biopsy which was done two days later.  As we waited for the results, plans were set in motion for us to return to the United States if surgery or treatments were necessary.  Twelve days later, April 10th, the results were presented to us.  The bad news is the tumor is malignant but the good news is it is small and slow growing.  We are so thankful to all our friends and neighbors who have shown us love and care through this initial part of the journey.  We returned to the United States on April 20th and are now settling into our home in Knob Noster, Missouri waiting for my appointment on May 4th with the oncology doctor from St. Luke’s Medical Center.  God has been gracious to us and given us peace.  We realize that it is your prayers that God is answering on our behalf and we are so grateful.  Thank you!!
