Hi my name is Cindy Havens


I found out in October 2016 that my liver enzymes were high.  My doctor, Dr Rebecca McDonald, sent me to have a sonogram which showed that I had lesion's on my liver, either something outside or inside my pancreas, and a clump of something beside my aorta.  Then she sent me for a cat-scan which showed several lesion's on my liver and a mass around my pancreas and lymph nodes,  She then sent me to the oncologist, Dr. Avasthi, who I really like.  He is a kind and compassionate man, he is soft spoken.  He ordered a liver biopsy and a pancreas biopsy.  The liver biopsy confirmed that I have cancer in the liver.  He said that the cancer was slow growing and had been growing for about 10 years.  For the pancreas biopsy he sent me to Dr Alltamimi who put a stent in my bile duct and confirmed the cancer of the pancreas.  Dr Altamimi said the cancer originated in the pancreas.  Dr Avasthi is starting me on a biologic treatment called Afinitor.  He said that chemo and radiation would not touch this cancer.  His goal is to get me into remission.


I know without a doubt that God is in control of this, and that his glory will be magnified when this cancer is in remission.  I have a great support system of family, friends, church family, and people I don't know who are lifting me up in prayer all around the world.   This is going to be a battle that I will not be going thru alone, but that I have family and friends that will be right there with me, besides Almighty God.
