Cindy Flanegan

Cindy and Kirk met while in High School south of Atlanta. Kirk became aware of Cindy's special character and her love for Christ very early in their courtship. They dated for 3 years and were in married on June 6, 1980.  Cindy worked for IBM while Kirk worked with his father growing a logistics business. Our first child Emily blessed our lives in February of 1983, followed by Kyle in January of 1986. Cindy became a wonderful homemaker and awesome Mom to our two children.  Our family was very involved in the local Church serving in the Awana program and we were privileged to support missionaries who had a heart for the Great Commission.  After 15 years of marriage we felt the Lord was calling us to the work of Bible translation among ethnic people groups and so we joined Wyclifffe Bible Translators in October 1995.  Cindy and I have been privileged to serve and visit over 20 countries in last 22 years and see God's Word come alive in over 1,500 people groups globally. 

Recently Cindy was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.   Her oncologist removed a large cancerous cyst along with both ovaries and 12 biopsies. The pathology report confirmed more cancer in the abdominal cavity as well as the lymph nodes in that area. Cindy is healing from surgery now and will begin chemotherapy treatments in the next few weeks. We are so grateful to many family and friends who have come along beside us to meet our needs with prayer, meals, cards and hugs of encouragement! We hope you will continue to follow this part of our journey with God as He continues to lead and comfort us along the way.
