I started this site to share how this new clinical trial at the University of Chicago is going. I am the first patient to participate! The trial is called TILs, short for tumor infiltrating lymphocytes. I had surgery to remove a tumor in my liver on January 4th. This tumor was sent to a company in AZ where they used cells from my tumor to create gazillions of new cells that will be transplanted back in to me next week with the hope that my tumors will shrink or be eliminated. Before the cells can be transplanted my immune system needs to be depleted. This is accomplished thru strong chemotherapy. After the chemo and cell transfer, I will be given a drug called Interleukin 2. This drug will help restore my immune system. If all goes well I will be allowed to go back home in 2-3 weeks. I appreciate the wonderful love, support and prayers from everyone. I am filled with love and gratitude. Thank you so much!
