My  sister Cindy has been diagnosed again with Breast Cancer.  Three years ago she had a lumpectomy, this time it will be a bilateral mastectomy with tissue reconstruction.  Because she had radiation treatment with her last cancer, using her own tissue for reconstruction is the best option for her. The recovery will be longer and it will be a bit more difficult because tissue and some muscle are being taken from her abdomen for the reconstruction.

Cindy will have surgery on October 31st, (Halloween) and has been told she will be in the hospital until Thursday or Friday. Recovery will be  4-6 weeks.  This is going to be a challenge for my sister.  All those who know her well know she doesn't sit for very long!  Cindy will not know if she needs Chemo until pathology comes back after surgery, which will be approximately a week.

Cindy is very much at peace with what's ahead of her. She has told me she knows the Lord will be with her in surgery and every step of this journey.  Cindy feels extremely blessed to be surrounded by an abundance of love from family and friends.  I'll do my best to keep you updated along the way so you'll know how she is doing.  Thank you all so much for your love, kindness, support and many prayers for our sweet sister.

Love, Carrie and family
