On July 5, 2018, Chuck suffered a cardiac arrest at his home. His wife, Ann, immediately started CPR and called 911. Chuck and Ann live outside Winona, MN so it took the ambulance 25-30 minutes to arrive. The paramedics also did CPR for another 20-30 minutes. They had to shock Chuck’s heart 6 times overall. They took him to the Winona Hospital then he was airlifted to St Mary’s at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Chuck was then placed on a ventilator and in a medically induced coma for 7 days. He suffered an anoxic brain injury due to his brain’s lack of oxygen.
