Chris Wichman

First post: Sep 17, 2020 Latest post: Jan 2, 2022
Chris had his first kidney transplant in May 1989. In the spring of 2019 he started having some issues and extra testing resulting in some medication changes to handle the issues. Fast forward to December 2019 and we were told he needed another transplant. He was officially added to the national registry February 2020, and his kidney doc continued to monitor him. In August 2020 his numbers were bad enough to warrant starting the process to get him on dialysis. We knew this step was coming but didn't know which type of dialysis he would choose. After discussing with his doctor he chose peritoneal dialysis, which is done overnight at home. At the end of August he was set up, trained and transitioned to home dialysis on Sept 17, 2020. This page will follow the rest of his journey.
