If you know Chris Werner Mochel, Weiner Wagon to some of her oldest friends and Mommy to me, you know that she is a source of love and light and positivity and encouragement. Well, it is our turn to return all of that, and more, to her.
On October 5th, after a visit to the ER the evening prior due to slight numbness in her face and a bit of slurred words, Chris was diagnosed with a non-metastatic brain tumor. Using CTs, MRIs and a Functional MRI (you can look it up, it is interesting) the neurosurgery team created a surgical plan and Mom underwent brain surgery on Friday, October 16. Post op pathology and the Tumor Board confirmed preliminary assessment that Mom has glioblastoma.
Our little Mochel family is grieving this sudden and scary news, but we are so thankful that we have spent 37 years (and 47 years for Mom & Dad!!!) living life to its very fullest! We spent the first manys days after her diagnosis crying, and visiting the pumpkin patch, and taking beautiful rainbow family photos (merci mille fois, Erin Schedler Photography!), and eating yummy food, and crying, and VOTING, and giving each other as many hugs and kisses as we can. We are continuing to do all of those things, as seasonally appropriate.
We are using this CaringBridge website to keep family and friends updated in one place. We strongly encourage you to follow the site to receive email notifications as Dad and I make brief, occasional updates. We all appreciate your love, support and words of hope and encouragement.
