Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most.

It's been a little over 3 months since we began this journey.  So many people have been a part of this with us so we've decided to move the updates over to this forum, so that FB doesn't get so overwhelmed.  In the midst of craziness we just didn't get this set up.

For those that may just be tuning in, back in November dad was diagnosed with Severe Aplastic Anemia.  In a very short nutshell, all of his blood lines(platelets, white blood cells, red blood cells) shut down and stopped producing.  Up until the 80s, there was a 5% survival rate.  Now with a treatment dad had in December, he has a survival rate around 80%.  However, the recovery has and continues to be a tough one- very up and down.  And even now, we still wait to see if his body will fully respond and return back to 100%.  We are at about 12 weeks post treatment and he will return in 2 weeks to Seattle Cancer Care Alliance to talk with his dr. about how his bone marrow biopsy report looks.

Since he was diagnosed in November, he had 35+ platelet transfusions and 16+ red blood transfusions. But as of 2nd week of February, he hasn't had a transfusion, so that's good news!

I will post dad's latest update written yesterday (3/13).
