Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
Shortly before Easter, Christy Simon was diagnosed with a rare form of anal cancer and will begin treatment on April 19. Her cancer is stage 3 since it has spread to local lymph nodes. While that seems like overwhelming news, this stage is still curable and the treatment plan is intense but clear.
Christy will begin chemotherapy and radiation simultaneously later this month. Chemotherapy will be for two full weeks – first week at the beginning of treatment, and the final toward the end. Radiation will be every weekday for six full weeks. We expect the treatment protocol to be exhausting physically and mentally, not to mention very painful.
We are all very optimistic that she will pull through this and the treatment will work. She is a strong fighter (much like her mother).
