Welcome to Christine’s (CJ’s) Page on the CaringBridge website where we can keep family and friends updated (see Journal Page). We appreciate everyone’s support, words of hope, and encouragement for Christine. Thank you for visiting her Page. As most are aware and for the those finding out, Christine has been diagnosed with a brain tumor after having symptoms of migraines at first and blurry vision and dizziness. In the beginning of June 2017, she experienced head migraines and then developed blurry vision. We are fortunate that she was seen by an ophthalmologist who noticed swelling in the back of the eye and was then sent to urgent care for an MRI. As 8 plus hours passed in urgent care, her MRI was taken and she was moved into ER. After the MRI results, she was admitted to the hospital because she had a tumor and later was transferred to the special Neuro Unit at the Kaiser Los Angeles Medical Center. The following day, Christine had Brain Surgery by the Neurosurgeon that debulked the tumor, obtained a tumor tissue sample for a biopsy, and drained fluid from a related adjacent cyst. The biopsy results determined that Christine has a Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) tumor which is Grade 4 malignant. This tumor is characterized by the biopsy as having Mutant IDH1. The doctor has advised us that it is more treatable than those tumors who don’t have it. Again, thank you for all the support during this difficult time and for keeping Christine in all of your thoughts and prayers. We will use this site to keep you updated.
