Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.  As you may or my not know, my sister has been  going through some pretty significant medical issues. I'm going to try and start from the beginning, so everyone knows just exactly what is going on.  Back on Thusday November 15th, out of absolutely no where, Christine was sitting at her kitchen  table, talking to my mom, and suddenly started experiencing some pretty significant stomach pains, bad enough that it was raiding to to back. She decided to go lay down for awhile and hopped the pains would go away. 15 to 20 minutes later, she was down her knees screaming for my Mom to call an ambulance.  - The ambulance arrived and took her to the ER. ~  They gave her some pretty strong pain melds and started their test. With their MRI machine  not operating,  they could not run any body scan.  The test were complete, and they came to the conclusion that Christine was experiencing what they called " Phantom Pains"  and sent her home.   Now , I do want to add that the nurse on call that day was very very rude, at one point even told her to be quiet, that she was disturbing the other people in the ER.  😠 ~   After a very long and painful night at home, she asked her husband to please take her back to the ER, that she could not stand the pain anymore and thought maybe they could give her something.  He thankfully took her back.  NOW the rest of this story is in her own words ~    "So this is what I know
Friday morning I went to the ER for the second time and I was hospitalized. For back and stomach pains.
I ended up with 3 1/2 feet of my small intestine removed because it was dead. I also had an ovary burst. And I have a blood clot in my speen.
I can't eat, drink, Can only have ice chips. Now I'm going into ICU. ".           Another post  a couple days later and a little confused about the date.   ~                                                      As of November 17, I have been hospitalized, I lost over 4 feet of my small intestine due to blood clots attacking my organs. I have had 3 surgeries since I've been here. The pain is horrific to say the least. I will be placed on cummiden for the rest of my life. I was told that if I had waited any longer to get in i would not have made it. I've been through some scarry stuff in my life but this was by far the worst. I just want to thank my sister Geri Hoffman. Tammy Rutchasky, my mom and kids. CHUCKS Entire family. Sam Timmerman and Bryan D Royer. A last but definitely not least my brave, courageous husband Chuck Juopperi. Thank you all for the prayers. Idk when I will be released but when I do I will be sending you all a personal thank you note. Thanks for everything.         Now sense this post, she has had 4 more surgeries.  All for complications - due to failed stitches in her intestines, leaking stitches and  Now a hole they can not seem to get closed. Yesterday was her 6th week in the hospital and her 7th surgery.  Today she will have another to see if yesterday's surgery was successful.  -  her husband created a closed group site for all of her immediate family to stay updated on what is going on. Here is his post from yesterday. ~.    Christine is out of surgery and up and awake. Stitches were added to close the hole in the intestine. She will be going back into surgery tomorrow around 9 AM to see if the stitches held. There is less than a 50/50 chance that the stitches will hold due to all the scar tissue on the intestine. If the stitches do not hold they will pack around the intestinal hole with gauze until it closes/heals by itself. They left her abdomen open to pack gauze if that's what needs to be done. So far the gauze that she has packed in there now is dry.   This is from Chuck just a few minutes ago. ~   At the hospital. Christine is sleeping for a bit before surgery at 9.. I am sitting in the waiting room. I have a severe cold today and trying not to pass it on to her.  Surgery #8~    Please pray for her while we wait to hear the news from her Dr's.
