After dinner on June 18, Chris suddenly began to experience a fierce headache, nausea, and severe dizziness. "Call 911", he shouted and those words probably saved his life. Within minutes the paramedics arrived and took Chris to the ER at Hogue Hospital where it was discovered he had experienced a hemorrhagic stroke and surgery was performed to stop the bleeding. A subarachnoid stroke occurs when a weakened blood vessel ruptures in the brain. Although Chris's stroke was considered "catastrophic" the surgery was successful. Five days after the surgery a permanent shunt was installed to relieve the pressure on his skull.
Chris was int he ICU for six days before being transferred to the Hogue Rehab Center where he has received attentive and excellent care. Chris continues to improve and he and Susan are deeply grateful to their family and friends for all the prayers and providing them with such great support.
