Welcome to Christine's CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated. I'm Katherine, and I'm Christine's cancer buddy (see first journal entry).
As most of you likely know, Christine has been battling illness for years now. And finding a diagnosis has been just as much of a battle for her.
Chris started having GI problems in 2016. IBD was tossed around and "unspecified colitis." Possibly Chrohn's disease. She was eventually diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis, which was thought to be related.
Chris found a lump in February 2020. It was identified initially as a rare cancer (desmoid sarcoma). She went to three different, high end hospitals. She has been through the maximum number of rounds of chemotherapy, with no result, and she has been an incredible trooper through it all. And now it appears she was misdiagnosed.
This has been a tremendous stress for her, but also for Chris and Jonah. I don't know how they all soldier through this many months and just keep going.
Because they all have too much going on, I have offered to coordinate a CaringBridge site 1) to keep those who love Christine, Chris, and Jonah updated, but also 2) to provide a place for friends and family to pull together to help and support them through their trials. They need their village!!
