Although Chris wants everyone's thoughts and prayers to be focused on Effie and April at this point (he's an awesome Daddy), he agreed with April that a site needed to be started as so many people are asking about him as well and just easier to keep everyone up to date through Caring Bridge. So...
Chris has Stage 3 Colorectal Cancer. He was diagnosed on Thursday February 4th, 5 days before Effie's birth. He has a 5cm tumor located about 10 cm above the anal opening with one lymph node involved. He has done a genetic work up, mapping for radiation, and all sorts of other appointments in preparation for tomorrow. He starts both chemotherapy and radiation tomorrow, February 16th. 28 treatments, 5.5 weeks He will have a 6-8 week break before undergoing surgical removal of the tumor. His prognosis is good. Like they have said, "You're the healthiest person we have ever seen with colon cancer." They fully expect a cure.
Of course, April immediately researched his treatment options throughly, including seeking care at Vanderbilt or Mayo clinic if needed. However, after consulting with connections at both, they are reassured that he will receive the same treatment and level of care here in Chattanooga for the chemo and radiation portion of the treatment.
He and April are handling all this with the most amazing attitude, and their love for each other and little Effie are evident in how they are holding each other up during this time of great trial. An amazing family! Chris says, "I have to make through for Effie."
