Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
My husband just turned 46 years old a few weeks ago. We have known each other since 2004 ( so basically, my entire adult life). Throughout the years, Chris and I have had our share of ups and downs- including the loss of my father back in 2008,and the loss of Chris' other in 2017.  We have been each others "Rock" throughout so many different circumstances over the years...even when we were seperated! Not only is Chris my husband, but he is also my best friend in the entire world.I cant not imagine my life without Chris in it. Here is a synopsis of his current situation. In November,  I took Chris to the ER at Northside Cherokee Hospital because he was not able to keep anything down and was experiencing shortness of breath. The Dr said it was nothing more than food lodged in his throat.  The dr. actually removed a pice of steak from Chris' throat and told him to chew his food better!!! After that, Chris got much worse. He began to lose weight - rapidly and he was not able to eat or drink much of anything. His color began to change and he was throwing up blood. At that point we went to Wellstar Kennestone hospital. On January 26, 2020, Chris was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic adenocarcinoma. The tumor in his esophagus is 10cm ( the size of a peach) and unfortunately, has spread to his surrounding lymph nodes in his throat and chest area. The cancer has also spread to his liver and the Doctors say he is terminal.  All of this explains why the food was lodged in Chris' throat back in November. Anyhow,

He was just discharged from the hospital on February 14. He has to receive his nutrition through a tube called a jpeg that goes directly into his intestine. He is on a lot of different medicines and unfortunately, he does not have any health insurance. Chris has always worked in construction and I myself  have always been in the restaurant business. Neither myself nor my husband are able to work to make ANY income at all right now. We applied for Medicaid for him, but 6.anyways e still have NOT been approved!  Chris also tried to apply fir Social Security /Disability, but they say he has not paid enough in throughout his lifetime to receive ANY benefits at all!  They did say he can apply for SSI- which would not be very much at all. The feeding formula and medicines that Chris needs right now are VERY expensive and I simply don't know what we are going to do with no income coming in. The Oncology team has arranged for us to make payments since this is a self pay situation, but I still dont know what we will do. We have exhausted all of our savings at this point. We are asking for Prayer first and for most. Please pray that Chris will be able to put his mind at ease. God knows what he must be feeling. Please pray for a Miracle! The Doctors say that if Chris chose not to receive chemo...then he would be gone in just a matter of months. Chris DID decide to have a right chest port placed to receive chemo! The Doctors have all been so amazing at Kennestone.  The Oncologists have made it clear to us tgat Chris is TERMINAL. They say chemotherapy will hopefully prolong his life- after 6 weeks of treatment, they will re scan to see if the treatments are working. . The goal is for the chemo to shrink the tumors so that Chris will hopefully be able to eat food by mouth. Our family needs help right now guys. Chris is the strongest man and most kind hearted person you would ever know! He is my true soulmate and our son is such a sweetheart. He is 6 years old and EVER DAY he he prays for God to take his Daddy's cancer away.  We are asking for yall to please  pray as well! Our family is asking for donations to help with everything Chris needs during this terrible time.  We thank you all and God Bless!
