Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
My wife Cheryl, an extraordinarily healthy, attractive, sixty-one-year-old mother of three girls who is married to the luckiest guy in the world, was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in June 2016. Because we both witnessed the devastating effects of chemo and radiation on close family members (both her parents and my first wife), we agreed when we got married that we would forego conventional treatments and, instead, look for alternative therapies. After a lot of research and discussion, we chose to pursue treatment at Immunity Therapy Center in Tijuana, Mexico. We've established a GoFundMe account to help pay for these treatments, none of which are covered by Cheryl's health insurance plan.
The three weeks Cheryl will spend at the clinic will include multiple therapies, as well as training in meditation, exercises, deep breathing, and preparing organic meals. We don't have a clue as to how many therapies the doctors will use, but I am accompanying Cheryl so that I can provide whatever assistance she needs in the evenings when we're back at the hotel.
I hate cancer more than anything I have ever hated in my life. It stole my wife and robbed my daughter of her mommy. It robbed me of a beloved sister-in-law. It robbed Cheryl of both her parents. Additionally, my sister has (successfully!) fought colon cancer, and one of Cheryl's brother has (successfully!) fought prostate cancer.
We leave this coming Sunday and are very excited about what is going to happen. I plan to update this site daily once we reach Tijuana.
