My story starts in January when I went to the doctor because I really wasn't feeling that well. I was exhausted, I felt weak, I was constantly nauseous and I had pain in my abdomen which I thought may have been a gallbladder issue but I was wrong. Since then I have gone through a series of tests including multiple blood work, bone marrow, EMG cardiac tests and fat pad biopsy. With the results of all those different tests coming back in, my oncologist diagnosed me with amyloidosis. I was completely shocked and actually didn't know what to do at that point emotionally or physically. Any type of diagnosis can bring you to your knees, especially when you have a young family. I had just recently finished my bachelor's degree and started a job that I really love. My doctors have recommended that I go to Boston University to a clinic they specifically treats amyloidosis; so my daughters and I are leaving Sunday May 7th for Boston for more testing and also for them too decide which way they are going to treat my illness. I am starting this blog so my family and friends can keep up with what is going on and what treatments are happening. Welcome to our CaringBridge website.
