Charlie is a crazy, silly, active 8 year old boy who is all about life. He loves Jesus. He likes wrestling, riding bike, 4-wheelers, snowmobile and almost anything with wheels, skis, and that moves fast:). He was born with Tetralogy of Fallot, a 4 part defect in the development of the heart that is incompatible with life after the first few months or years. Charlie made it 7 months and needed open heart surgery. This saved his life and allowed him to thrive. He did not have one of the four valves of the heart and we all knew that eventually he would need this. We were thinking late teens or early twenties, life said otherwise. He started having some chest pains with exertion at age 6 and this became worse over the last year. He had to wait until age 8 to have an MRI and this ultimately showed thinning of the right ventricle. This means that he needed a valve to "off-load" or protect the ventricle and here we are.
