Welcome to Charlie's CaringBridge site, we've created it to keep friends and family updated.

In May Charlie was diagnosed with Stage III throat and tongue cancer. The good news (of the really bad news) is that it's a type of viral cancer that takes well to treatment and is most often curable. Due to the tumor's size and location it was inoperable. The treatment plan has been 7 straight weeks of radiation 5 days a week, with 3 mega-doses of chemo. He's being treated at the Frauenshuh Cancer Center at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park. Charlie began treatment on June 27th. His last chemo is on August 9th (which happens to be his Dad's birthday), and he has 6 more radiation treatments (the last one being on August 15th). The doctors say the next two months will be the most difficult as the treatments have an accumulative effect and the healing process will be a long one. I've taken time off of work to help Charlie get through the worst of this so that we can get him well and strong again (which can't come soon enough!).

We're all hanging in there during this challenging time and Charlie has been a champion having both a strong, fighting spirit and the most positive attitude . Our boys and their ladies along with our families, friends, and co-workers are the absolute best and they keep our spirits high! We appreciate everyone's support and words of love and encouragement during Charlie's battle.

In gratitude,
Pam & Charlie
