Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated on Charlie's progress through this very trying journey. We appreciate your support, your prayers and words of hope and encouragement as we take this one day at a time. Thanks for your concern and love at a time we need it the most.Love to all, Ruth and Charlie

Wanted to give everyone a little background into how all this came about, it is still such a shock.About two months ago Charlie saw his primary Dr. for what he thought was a prostate problem. After 2 weeks on meds that didn't help, he was referred to a urologist who also gave him meds and ordered a CT Scan. The scan did show a cyst but the telling thing was it showed lesions on the liver which started this very horrendous path to cancer. Within a week we had a liver biopsy that showed cancer. The next week he had six different tests looking for the primary cancer site. The Endoscopy showed there was a nodual in the esophagus pre-cancerous and a sm.cancerous tumor in the stomach. After a second opinion at Duke Cancer Center last week,Charlie had his first cycle of Chemo, Friday, August 4th.Wow! I can't believe I had to write this,So Very Difficult to believe!!!!!!!!!!!!Chemo on the 4th of Aug. went very well and the week following was just a bit rough because of nausea. That was taken care of with a stronger nausea med. All in all doing quite well!
