Back on January 7, charles had a successful surgery resolving some long term back pain. He was able to walk into the house post-surgery with no pain. However, he did develop some complications post-surgery which eventually resulted in an abcesss in the psoas muscle. This spread to his bloodstream (sepsis) and then to his heart (endocarditis). He was VERY ill and prescribed 8 weeks of iv antibiotics which resolved the sepsis and abcess. The endocarditis left some residual damage, but the active infection resolved. After a couple of ineffective weeks in rehab due to very unfortunate UTI, he landed back in the hospital as doctors searched for the source of his continual debilitating back pain. They finally discovered inflamation in a lower back disc which they suspect is a recurrance of the staph. He was prescribed 4-8 more weeks of a different antibiotic. So far, his back pain is decreasing.
