Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

This story begins not with the recent events in the life of one of the most amazing people we know, it really begins a long, long time ago. Our mom, your friend, daughter, sister,  aunt, cousin ( second, third, fourth-twice removed), grandmother, confidant and known to everyone as Char, started this journey May 10th, 1953. Your impact in her life is what has helped her to become the fiercely independent and incredibly strong woman we all know and love. Never have we seen anyone battle challenges with such no nonsense, straight forward intensity. She puts her mind to it and gets it done.

Well, this past February, with sudden onset of pain, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. The big "C". And true to her nature, she approached the diagnosis with the same steady determination that she would do everything in her power to win the greatest battle of her life. And battle she has!! But, not only battle, she has also believed in living for every moment she has. In these six months, through treatment (some of them pretty grueling) she has chosen to live. Somehow with every bump in the road she has found the strength to smooth it out, add another cushion, and keep moving forward. If she could beat this with willpower alone, it would have been gone months ago.

As an incredibly private person and her desire to keep that positive attitude and not worry others, much of this may be a surprise to you. We have prayed for miracles, she has valiantly withstood many treatments including entering herself into any study available to her in hopes of finding one to help her continue the fight. Those treatments have given her the gift of time she may not have had otherwise.

That brings us to today. The past few days have seen some significant changes. Her will is strong but her body has become very weak. Please pray for her to be in as little pain as possible, that the doctors and nurse can help her to be comfortable. She has given so much strength to so many, maybe our strength and prayers can give her some relief.

We will try to leave updates on this page. Please feel free to share photos, stories, well wishes, or beautiful memories. If you have found this page, it is because you have been someone very important in her life, or she in yours, or you in one of ours. Thank you for the continued love and support! You have no idea what that has meant to our family! We love you all.
