Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your prayers, support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting, Dearest family and friends. It was  5 years ago  Nov 16,2012 that I had a  large  22 x 15 x 9 cm liposarcoma removed from my abdomen,  I was told it was a grade 1, not likely to metastasize but likely to grow back  slowly which was probably how the first one came into being. Well the tumor is back and it appears to have come back rather fast as there was no tumor seen in January 2017 and now it is the size of a soft ball. When we saw the original surgeon he told us that  a chest CT scan reveals that it has metastisized to my lungs. My surgeon has told us that surgery is not an option. Well, we were devastated by this diagnosis! He referred me to an oncologist that I saw yesterday.  She advised us that it is not certain that the sub-centemeter nodules on the lower lobes of my lungs are metastatisis.  She carefully reviewed what the radiologist had said. She gave me a couple of option.  One was to try a new medicine called CDK which has some support from a rather small study.  Of course there are side effects like low white cell counts, bleeding, anemia.  the other option is to do a wait and see of 2 and a half months.  I chose the latter and will have repeat CTs of abdomen and chest in early Feb 2018 and see  oncologist again.  Chemo therapy and radiation have never been effective  against soft tissue sarcomas.   I am currently in pretty good health which allows me to golf a couple times a week and enjoy doing a variety of things. It took a good year and a half to get well from the late 2015  46 day hospitalization.  There were a lot of setbacks in the process so since July of this year I have been enjoying being in the land of the well.   Please pray for me/us.  We hold you all in our hearts and prayers as you meet the challenges in your lives.   I may not have a lot of updates.
