On Monday night, June 19, Chad went to the ER with severe abdominal pain. The ER doctor diagnosed him with jaundice caused by a blocked bile duct. Imaging showed a large mass on Chad' s pancreas and two smaller spots on his liver. Doctors performed an endoscopy to place a stent to drain the bile and do a biopsy.

Today, June 26, Chad and I went to the oncologist to find out the results of the biopsy. The oncologist told us the masses are cancer. More tests need to be done to determine the origin of the cancer so doctors can properly treat it. The endoscopy revealed a very rare type of cancer cell, which is why more tests are needed.

The oncologist told us that the cancer is most likely inoperable and will not be cured. Once we get results from the PET scan and second biopsy we will have an official diagnosis and plan for treatment.

Please pray for Chad and our whole family as we process this grim prognosis and figure out the what the next few months are going to look like. We will continue to update using this site. Feel free to leave a message for Chad here or on Facebook. I know he will love hearing from friends during this time.
