In September 2015 Chad started noticing that he was bruising very easily. After consulting with several doctors and specialists over 2 months it was determined he has a disorder called MDS -- Myelodysplastic Syndrome. I will post later about the specifics or you are welcome to visit
http://www.mds-foundation.org/what-is-mds/Chad is currently on a treatment regimen from his doctor at Emory. These will continue indefinitely, until they either stop working (to bring his blood counts up), or he progresses to the need for a bone marrow transplant. January 10 marked the end of his 1st month.
Ultimately a bone marrow transplant will be necessary. It is currently the only "cure" for this. The next 4-6 months will determine whether this happens soon, this year, or in 18-24 months. His doctor will make that recommendation after he evaluates his response to the current treatment.
