Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most.

In September 2015 Chad started noticing that he was bruising very easily. After consulting with several doctors and specialists over 2 months it was determined he has a disorder called MDS -- Myelodysplastic Syndrome. I will post later about the specifics or you are welcome to visit http://www.mds-foundation.org/what-is-mds/
Chad is currently on a treatment regimen from his doctor at Emory. These will continue indefinitely, until they either stop working (to bring his blood counts up), or he progresses to the need for a bone marrow transplant. January 10 marked the end of his 1st month.
Ultimately a bone marrow transplant will be necessary. It is currently the only "cure" for this. The next 4-6 months will determine whether this happens soon, this year, or in 18-24 months. His doctor will make that recommendation after he evaluates his response to the current treatment.
