Dear Friends,
Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters so much.

Cecelia entered the hospital 3 weeks ago with congestive heart failure, septis and a compression fracture of her upper spine.   Just as the doctors got the first two conditions under control and we were ready to bring her home, her compression fracture accelerated,
 and placed so much pressure on her spinal cord that within days she lost function from the waist down. Surgery is high risk,  with a long painful recovery period  and no promise of success. After consulting with several surgeons, Cec made the difficult but carefully thought out decision to refuse surgery. Her wish was to return home to be with her beloved Don, to look at her garden, do a bit of writing and talk to her many dear friends and loved ones. She is at peace with her decision.  

Cec came home from the hospital on Friday 5/27. It's been a steep learning curve learning to live with paralysis.  It would not be possible without the tremendous support so many people have lovingly and selflessly offered.   Thank you all. 

Cec would like to have a Celebration of Life party and we are hoping that good rest and physical therapy at home restores her energy enough to make this possible.  At this time, she tires easily.  She is returning calls as able but limiting visits.    She loves reading messages of love and support from friends so please use this site to communicate with her.
