Cecelia Kmiecik Cece’s Battle

First post: Jul 2, 2018 Latest post: Oct 5, 2021

This is my precious Cecelia, my mini me, my first baby. She’s been having a rough couple months, hasn’t been herself, I’ll spare the heartbreaking details. My beautiful girl was just diagnosed with Leukemia on Tuesday June 26th, 2018 and started chemotherapy immediately. The survival rate is very high, but it is a very long journey ahead for all of us. She has the most common type, Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Her sister, Lily (2.5), soon to be surprise baby brother (due 8/14), my husband, myself, and my in-laws all just got a new life along with Cece. In the blink of an eye everything changed.

I was brushed off by multiple doctors that it was just growing pains, and she would grow out of it. I didn’t give up because deep down I knew something was very wrong. Once we were referred to hematology everything moved very quickly.

I will admit I am not a writer, but I am going to try my best. I wanted to have a safe, centralized place to write about this journey we are all going on with Cece. Selfishly I hope this will be therapeutic for me. Cece used to be a normal three year old, off to pre-school in the fall, ballet lesson next month, proud big sister, amazing daughter. This is the story of her brave battle and her family that would do anything for this little princess.
