Welcome to Cathy Creason’s CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. Please offer your words of support and messages of hope and encouragement to her here. Thank you for visiting.

Creason became ill last week and could not walk due to severe swelling in her legs. She sought care and was subsequently admitted to University Hospital where she is currently admitted. During this admission she was diagnosed with far advanced cancer in her lungs, liver, breast and brain and told that her remaining time would be short. She is grateful for the excellent medical care she received at University Hospital. Visiting her while she is in University Hospital is limited to 2 people per day and must be scheduled in advance. Creason has asked Braden Mechley to coordinate visitor scheduling for her.  She is on the oncology floor and cannot receive flowers there due to hospital rules.

She will soon be receiving care at Drake Hospital and will enjoy cards, and letters sent to her there and your messages on this website. You may send her cards at Drake Hospital, 151 W. Galbraith Rd, Cincinnati, Ohio 45216 after July 20.

Her journey is expected to be brief. She is currently very weak and thus not able to respond to everyone who loves her by phone or text. In order to conserve her energy, she asks that you schedule your visits to her by contacting her dear friend, Braden Mechley, through private message on Facebook.

Much help will be needed to cover her final expenses and needs while she is in the hospital.  To support this most worthy cause, please visit:

Cathy Creason is a woman of many gifts, which she has joyfully shared with others throughout her life. She has lived a life of service to others, and freely given her time and expertise in so many settings.

Whether she was providing vocal coaching to her much loved TX students, or sharing her lovely voice with the choir at St. John’s Church in DryRidge, or just enjoying a night out with friends, she has brought her own inimitable light, joy and laughter.

One of the biggest joys of her life has been her long term friendships with her former students. She has stayed in touch with many St. Xavier High School graduates, enriching their lives, and the lives of their families. She has delighted in enjoying their performances as an audience member whether in community theater, college productions, on Broadway, on regional tours, or in movies. Just this year she was proud to have provided editing for Jessica Hendy’s NewYork premiere of her play, “Walking with Bubbles.”

Creason is a treasured aunt and great aunt, and remains close to her friends from her hometown in Benton, Kentucky. She has been lucky to have the love and support of her dear friend group, the Mables. She also counts the teachers and staff she worked with at local schools as among her dearest friends. She forged life long friendships with cast, musicians, and crew from not only Theatre Xavier, but also the Newport Performing Arts Guild.

Her cooking, especially her holiday cookies and candy, is legendary. Christmas and Easter gifts hand made in her kitchen have been eagerly anticipated by many of her local friends. She catered many a delicious down home meal to friends who were ill or having a special celebration.

Creason is a much loved member of many communities of friends. All of us who know her cherish her and have fond memories of happy days spent in her company. Please share your stories, pictures, and memories here on her page. She is looking forward to hearing from you.
