For 28 months, Cassidy struggled with worsening nausea, vomiting, daily/cyclical fevers, headaches, dizziness...symptoms that waxed and waned, leading to confusion among experts in the medical community. On October 2, 2020, at 12 years old, she had an MRI to confirm that her symptoms were a result of migraines. But they were not.
A tumor was found infiltrating her hypothalamus. We are currently awaiting a second opinion on pathology from Johns Hopkins, as Louisville's pathology report seems a little unclear. We know it is a pilocytic astrocytoma. We are hopeful that it has no malignant component.
Thank you for following Cassidy's journey on Caring Bridge. We are so appreciative for the love and support of our friends and family. Seriously...I cannot imagine getting through this without all of you.
