For 28 months, Cassidy struggled with worsening nausea, vomiting, daily/cyclical fevers, headaches, dizziness...symptoms that waxed and waned, leading to confusion among experts in the medical community. On October 2, 2020, at 12 years old, she had an MRI to confirm that her symptoms were a result of migraines. But they were not.
A pilocytic astrocytoma, a tumor with a BRAFv600e mutation, was found infiltrating her hypothalamus. Because of its location, it is inoperable. So on November 18th, 2020, Cassidy had a port inserted and, on November 19th, she began chemo for brain cancer.
Thank you for following Cassidy's journey on Caring Bridge. We are so appreciative for the love and support of our friends and family. We cannot imagine getting through this without all of you.
