Welcome to our CaringBridge website for our sweet little Cassidy Faith. She is a fighter, the perfect combination of princess and warrior!  We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place as she continues on her journey. We appreciate your support, your words of hope and encouragement and most importantly, your prayers. The power of prayer is strong, keep them coming, and God Bless.  Here is Cassidy's story...

First, Abe and Shanna send their sincere THANK YOU to everyone who has called, sent messages and most importantly prayed for sweet Cassidy.  The past couple of days they have been with her every second, and as you can imagine, it is impossible to get back in touch with everyone, but they want you to know how much your thoughts, calls and prayers mean to them.  The power of prayer is so very strong.

Second, to catch you up from the beginning...
Cassidy Faith was born on October 10th, weighing in at 2 pounds and .57 oz.  She was baptized and confirmed on October 13th, and  Shanna was able to hold her on the 16th, and didn't ever want to put her down!  She was then diagnosed with blood aspiration pneumonia.  Around the 18th, they put Cassidy on an oscillator, for the pneumonia, which does all of the breathing for her.  They gave her a blood transfusion and started her on medications.  She responded good to this initial treatment, but her numbers were not where they wanted them to be.  Sassy Cassie, as Shanna calls her, didn't like to be still; so the NICU nurses gave her additional medications, including antibiotics to rule out any infection.  The doctors told Abe and Shanna she has chronic lung disease (which has other names like BPD), and on Tuesday, her stats didn't look good.  Cassidy didn't give up though, and your prayers helped this little fighter so very much!  Shanna and Abe had a very long night on Tuesday, but they made it through and on Wednesday, Cassidy was a little better.  She had another transfusion, more antibiotics, some heart medication, and kept on fighting!  What an amazing and courageous little girl she is.

Wednesday night's update from Shanna:  Things are constantly changing, but tonight Cassidy's oxygen levels were up a little from Tuesday, her brain scan did not show any brain bleeds at the moment ~ great news.  She is by no means out of the woods, but working very hard to get to a stable condition.  If she does, the doctor and nurses have been consulting with another hospital.  She is not yet stable to fly, but if she is, there is a  possibility of different treatments, for her sweet little lungs.   Shanna and Abe remain positive; always full of grace, love, and faith.

Shanna and Abe ask to please keep praying for Cassidy Faith, they thank you from the bottom of their hearts.  She needs all of our prayers.  "Our children are the greatest proof that miracles do exist"

(A quick note from Dena: the tributes/donation buttons on the page are not donations to Cassidy, this is a tribute/donation to this amazing non-profit organization, the Caring Bridge site, to keep it running.  I just wanted to add that, because I didn't know that myself!  Shanna and Abe know everyone would like to help in some way and feel that the most help is what everyone is doing, Praying!  Thanks!)
