On July 11th Casey had a bowel resection surgery in Springfield to help manage his ongoing 17year battle with Crohn's Disease. What was supposed to be an "easy surgery" took an unexpected turn days later as Casey went into acute renal failure and became septic due to an intestinal leak that formed in his abdomen. Casey was rushed into emergency surgery on July 22nd in Springfield to repair the leak, where doctors ended up having to resect more of his bowel and also perform  a colostomy.  Immediately after surgery Casey was Life Flighted to OSU Wexner Medical Center SICU in critical condition. Since then Casey has had many ups and downs, taking steps forward and then steps back, but has remained in the hospital for the past 4 months.
