Casey Czyz

First post: Dec 4, 2017

Best described as a Polish Cowboy.  Casey became a US Citizen in 1995, after moving to The United States in 1979 from Sufczyn, Poland.  Casey is proud to be an American Citizen, but is also proud of his heritage. He has learned to merge both worlds, with his wife Anna of 27 years (also of Polish descent) and his love for working on his semi truck (occupation), gardening, and his German Shepard, Bruno.    Casey's life was like any average American life prior to Wednesday, November 22, 2017.  He was a loving husband and uncle, loved his job as a truck driver, and looked toward the future and all the possibilities it would bring.  Until a little past noon on Thanksgiving Eve.  Everything changed.  Everything stopped.  Casey fell 15 feet from a ladder onto the concrete.  All his dreams for the future now became hopes for the next minute, for the next breath of life.  He was rushed to Oconomowoc Medical Center where he was diagnosed in the Emergency Room  with fail chest, pneumothorax, and abdominal bleeding.  That afternoon Casey received 4 units of blood, a chest tube was placed in the chest cavity to remove air, he was put on a ventilator, heavily sedated and he received high doses of pain medications to help with pain caused by the 7 shattered ribs of the left rib cage.

As of today, Sunday, December 3rd (day 11), He still needs rib plating surgery and surgery  however his vitals are too unstable and unreliable to survive surgery. He has an ever growing list of problems: pulmonary embolism, atrial fibrillation, pneumonia,  and a high fever that is plaguing since Saturday, November 25th. He has been in an induced coma since day one.  The last few days medical team is working on sedation vacation (medical term) to decrease the level of sedation medication; however every time they try and bring him out of the induced coma, his body immediately fails.  The Trauma Team of doctors and nurses, and his family are not giving up on him.  Please help Casey and his family, so they can focus all their attention on him.  Like most families, when Casey fell off the ladder, his income immediately stopped.  On top of all his normal bills, Casey is going to face huge medical bills.  Together, we call help reduce that burden placed on him, so he can focus on recovery once he wakes up.  And with all your prayers, he will!  So please give if you can and if you are unable to – please pray, well please pray either way!  To donate go to: https://www.gofundme.com/caseyczyz (DO NOT accidently donate to Caring Bridge - purple button - as that goes to this site and NOT TO CASEY)

Thank you!  More updates to come...
