Carter Harrington

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We know that Michelle and Sean are overwhelmed with questions.  We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place and to take the burden off of them. Carter Thomas came into this world 2 weeks early on June 2nd!  His delivery at Heywood Hospital was uncomplicated and everyone was instantly in love. Throughout the day Carter was working hard to breath and needed more support than our community hospital had available. He was transferred to UMass Hospital to get him all the care he needed.  It was found that a bacterial lung infection had spread to his blood and was causing Carter to have difficulty breathing so his body needed extra support to fight. He was started on multiple antibiotics, machines to help him breath and given fluids so he didn't have to worry about eating. After just 20 hrs, the decision was made that even UMass did not have the support Carter needed. He was then transported to Boston Children's Hospital to be with the best in the world with the highest level equipment. He is now working hard to fight this infection while his body has support from machines to keep him strong. He has already shown he is a fighter and won't give up.


There will be lots of traveling back and forth from home (in Templeton, MA) to Boston, staying in the city, worrying about meals and taking care of their sweet girl Harper at home.  Any donations you can give would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
