Many of you know this already, perhaps some of you do not, but things are about to start happening, so I thought I would share my situation.

In mid-June (2017) I was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer. That is the bad news. The good news, and thankfully there is good news, is that it is a treatable form of cancer. The breast cancer was caught early (by ME!! and missed by the mammogram! Ladies do your self-exams!) and fortunately they do not think it has spread. After many doctor appointments and tests, I was provided with a range of options to treat my specific situation. As a result, I have decided to have a double mastectomy and it is scheduled for August 3rd. There have been many people that have provided me with advice, wisdom, and their own personal experiences with breast cancer ... others that have provided me additional medical professional insights ... and it has all been helpful as I arrived at my decision. I thank all of you!

My surgery will likely be followed by chemo in the months following ... we will know more about this as soon as the surgical pathology is complete. I am incredibly optimistic that I will be fine, eventually, though the end of 2017 and early parts of 2018 are going to be a challenge. If you see me in the next 6-8 months and I do not seem to be myself, then you will know why.

Thank you everyone for all the love, support, and prayers. I really appreciate all of you and I am sure I will be leaning on some of you from time to time in the near future. I truly am thankful that you are part of my life. ❤️❤️❤️
