Mom takes on so much already, why not tackle cancer!? In fact, we considered naming this site, "Superwoman Takes on Cancer" because we all know she doesn't back down from anything... backed up drain - no problem, Christmas light installation - done, calf delivery - she's got it covered, someone to talk to - call her... she is wise, handy, and a go getter of life. Rather than calling the site that though, we opted for Carolyn's Journey because that is what this is - a part of her journey. This is the current turn in Mom's journey and one we want you to be a part of. You have already been a part of her journey at some point - that's why you're here. Because even now, whether you are in her every day life, a friend of Dad's, or a friend of a friend coming to learn how to pray and help, you are a part of the journey.

So, let me catch you up to speed. Mom has already had a mammogram, biopsy, MRI, and lymph node removal. These tests and scans indicate that she has a type of breast cancer that likes to spread and that we need to hit it HARD. The good news is that the lymph node removal indicated no cancer in her lymph nodes which means it is isolated to her breast. YES! Rather than doing a lumpectomy which would risk allowing the cancer to spread more easily, she will immediately begin chemotherapy. Chemotherapy is given every three weeks for 18 weeks. She will begin chemotherapy Thursday, January 28th. We are still working on forming a list of needs and will update the site to list those.

Mom has responded as she always does, in faith in the steadfast presence and love of God toward her. She is anticipating Him working all of this for His glory despite not being excited to go through chemotherapy and all that it entails. Please pray for peace, strength, and healing.

"But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. "The Lord is my portion," says my soul, "therefore I will hope in Him."" Lamentations 3:21-24
