Carolyn was diagnosed with gastroesophageal cancer in early February following several months of difficulty swallowing and weight loss, which ultimately lead to hospitalization.  She was released to home hospice and has been resting at home since February 11 with support from family and friends.  The trauma of the experience has had an impact on her cognition and memory, and although she is getting stronger , she struggles to remember her current situation and recent events.  Despite this, communication is often clear and she enjoys visits.
