Many of you have been waiting patiently to hear Carol's story.  Since the beginning, it has been extremely emotional to put into words.  I started writing several times and had to walk away from the computer.  For those of you that have been touched by cancer, you understand how consuming and surreal it can be.   I felt that way for several days, even as a loved one...that was until I turned to God and trusted him to have Carol's back.

Carol's first symptoms began in early September.  She found it hard to breath and seemed to have severe chest pain...with that being said, she made an appointment with the doctor.  After some testing, a build up of fluid was found in and around her lungs.  Carol went in for a procedure with the  Pulmonologist and had the fluid drained.  The fluid was sent out for additional testing, which is how / where the cancerous cells were found.  Carol was then referred to an Oncologist - here in Cedar Rapids.

Carol has been diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer.  Dr. Ghosh has staged the cancer at a level four due to the fact it has metastasized throughout her body.  Cancerous cells have been found in her lung and lymph nodes on the right side.  Carol's treatment plan will include weekly visits for chemotherapy.  She will receive two different kinds of chemotherapy, one of which will be given every third week.  She will begin treatment tomorrow (9.29.16) and will receive both kinds of chemo.  At this time, there are several emotions being felt, but Carol is committed to remaining positive and seeing this challenge through.

We ask that you keep Carol and the family in your thoughts and prayers.  Carol more than ever needs all positive vibes sent her way.  She is beyond grateful for the comments you leave and the endless support.  God bless and here's to #fightingoffcancer!
