Hello and Welcome.  We started this site when Caroline was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in June 2021.   Caroline died on Feb 11th, 2022, at home, surrounded by her family.   This site was the place that Caroline kept an on-line journal of her journey for the last eight months of her life.  She loved the community that gathered here, and cherished the way it allowed her to remain connected to her wide circle of friends and family, even while she had limited energy.   Caroline's children, Evalyn and Richard, have continued to use this as a place to communicate with the community of folks who loved her, in particular about memorial events.

From June 25, 2021:

As you may know, Caroline has been struggling with difficult and confusing health issues for many months.  She has finally been diagnosed with a weak heart (low ejection fraction), and also pancreatic cancer.  Her cardiologist has prescribed drugs that should help her heart be stronger, but it will take months.  In the meantime she naps a lot! Her oncology team is pretty clear they can’t cure this cancer or remove it, and she has chosen not to do chemotherapy, though she is very thankful for digestive enzymes making a difference in her ability to eat!
Caroline truly appreciates your concern and love, but has very limited energy for responding.  We are using this page to keep family and friends updated in one place.  Rather than texts, phone calls or emails, she hopes you’ll use this site.  We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
